Work with a map
The ArcGIS for Windows Phone application is designed for exploring and working with maps. Once you have opened a map of interest, there are a number of tasks you can perform:
- View map details to see what the map is designed to show.
- View the legend to learn what the symbols on the map represent.
- View feature information to learn about a particular feature on the map.
- Show your location to see what is around you and view your geographic relationship with features.
- Change the basemap to see the data with a different context, such as streets or topography.
- Change layer visibility to add or remove layers from displaying, allowing you to focus on the content of interest to you.
- Navigate the map to explore different geographic areas.
- Use bookmarks to save and locate areas of interest.
- Search for place names to identify and locate specific locations.
- Measure on the map to identify the length and area of items visible on the map.
- Use secured services to open data that has been secured on either ArcGIS for Server or ArcGIS Online for organizations.
- Run a predefined query to explore the relationships the author identified as important in the map.
- Add a map to your favorites or remove a map from your favorites to maintain a list of maps that interest you, making it easy to return to them.
- Pin a map to Start to open the app displaying a particular map, skipping the Map Hub experience.
