Change the basemap

The author of a map selects the basemap that best fits the purpose of the map. However, you as the viewer of a map might want to see a different basemap with the same operational layers. The Windows Phone application lets you change the basemap of a map on the fly, without requiring an update to the map as it's written and stored on the online geographic information system (GIS).

To change the basemap of a map, follow these steps:

Steps:

1. Tap the contents icon on the app bar to display the map contents.

   The Map Contents pivot displays on the layers panel.

2. Tap the name of the currently displayed basemap.

   The Select basemap page displays.

3. Tap the basemap you want to use for the current map.

   You are returned to the map, and it now displays the selected basemap.
