Working with the Image Server Manager

LegacyLegacy:

ArcGIS 10 is the last release of the stand-alone ArcGIS Image Server product. The image service definition (.ISDef) has been replaced by an improved geodatabase data model—the mosaic dataset—which can be published as an image service using the ArcGIS Server Image extension.

The Image Server Manager

When the Image Server Manager is running, it establishes a connection with the selected image servers and obtains a detailed status of the server, service providers, and image services that are currently running.

The interface has a toolbar with buttons for starting and stopping the server, editing the configuration files, viewing the summary and logs, and refreshing.

After starting the Image Server Manager,

  1. Add and start an image server (see Configuring a new server).
  2. Add and start a service provider (see Creating a new service provider).
  3. Publish image services.

How you publish image services depends on whether you plan to use ArcGIS Server or ArcGIS Image Server. If you plan to use ArcGIS Server, you will publish your image services using ArcCatalog or the ArcGIS Server Manager. If you plan to publish your image services with ArcGIS Image Server, see About publishing image services.

Steps:
  1. Click Start > Programs > ArcGIS > Image Server > Server Manager 10.

The Image Server Manager window is displayed.

NoteNote:
You can also start the Image Server Manager using the Run command. To do this, click Start, click Run, type <Install Directory>\ArcGIS\Image Server\Bin\ServerManager.exe and click OK. For example, if you have installed Image Server Manager in C:\ Program Files, type C:\Program Files>\ArcGIS\Image Server\Bin\ServerManager.exe, and click OK.
