Configuring a new server

LegacyLegacy:

ArcGIS 10 is the last release of the stand-alone ArcGIS Image Server product. The image service definition (.ISDef) has been replaced by an improved geodatabase data model—the mosaic dataset—which can be published as an image service using the ArcGIS Server Image extension.

When you open Image Server Manager for the first time, you will be prompted to add a server. Follow through each window to add a server. If you need to add another server, follow the steps below.

You must add a server before you can configure it.

Steps:
  1. Click Start > Programs > ArcGIS > Image Server > Server Manager 10.

The Image Server Manager window is displayed.

  2. Click File > Add Server.

The Add Server dialog box is displayed.

  3. Specify the computer that will be used as the server in the Host machine text box.
    • The machine's name (the browse name on the network)
    • The machine's IP address
    • 127.0.0.1 (default but not recommended)
  4. Type the port number in the Port text box.

The port number is the identity of the port where the connection between the client application and server takes place. The default value is 3982.

  5. Click OK.

The server name is added to the Image Servers list.
