Installing ArcGIS Server 10 for the Java Platform overview
The ArcGIS Server 10 for the Java Platform setup process consists of two parts: the installation and the post installation. On completion of the setup, you will also be required to perform some manual steps using the Windows operating system tools.
- The installation is the setup process where you determine what features you want to install. The setup program will install the files required for these features.
- The post installation is the setup process that completes the ArcGIS Server 10 for the Java Platform installation process. In the post installation setup, depending on what features you chose to install, you will be able to configure ArcGIS Server and authorize ArcGIS Server. The Configure ArcGIS Server option will set up the required ArcGIS Server accounts. The Authorize ArcGIS Server option will authorize ArcGIS Server for use. See the post installation setup section for more information.
To successfully install ArcGIS Server 10 for the Java Platform, both the installation and post installation must be completed.

Windows Installer requires the System account to have full control of the system drive and the target drive.
