Installing the Application Developer Framework
The Application Developer Framework facilitates the development of ArcGIS Server applications. It includes Web controls, samples, and documentation.
How to prepare to install the Application Developer Framework
- Verify that your site meets the system requirements. For system requirement information, see Step 1: Verify system requirements.
- Log in as a user with administrative privileges.
- Close all applications on your computer.
- Insert the ArcGIS Server 10 for the Java Platform media into the appropriate drive to automatically launch the setup program.

ArcGIS Server 10 for the Java Platform requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 or higher. You must obtain and install Internet Explorer 7 or higher prior to installing ArcGIS Server 10 for the Java Platform.
How to install the Application Developer Framework
- During the installation, read the license agreement and accept it, or exit if you don't agree with the terms.
- The ArcGIS Server installation allows you to select the features you want.

On the Select Features dialog box, choose Application Developer Framework. Click the arrow to the left of the Application Developer Framework feature. From the list, choose Will be installed on local hard drive to install the Application Developer Framework. Unselect all other features and choose Entire feature will be unavailable to exclude these features from installation.
The ArcGIS Server installation consists of a collection of features and subfeatures. Features consisting of subfeatures will have a plus (+) or minus (-) sign to their left. The plus sign will expand the feature so that you can view its subfeatures. The minus sign will collapse the list of subfeatures.

To complete the installation, follow the directions on the screen.
