Creating a color image service using the wizard

Pasos:

1. Click the Image Service drop-down menu on the Image Service Definition Editor toolbar and click New Image Service.

   The New Image Service Wizard welcome panel is displayed.

2. Click Next.
3. Click the New image service location browse button and navigate to the location where you want to create the image service definition. Type the name in the File name text box and click Save.
4. Click the Select spatial reference system browse button and choose a spatial reference system provided in the ArcGIS Coordinate Systems folder.

   This is the spatial reference system used for the image service definition and is not necessarily the same as that of each raster dataset that will be added. The spatial reference should be selected such that no coordinate system boundaries exist within the extents of the required image service definition.

5. Click Select.
6. Navigate to and choose a projected or geographic coordinate system.
7. Click OK to close the Spatial Reference Properties dialog box.
8. Click the Service type drop-down arrow and click Color.
9. Click Next.
10. Click the Raster type browse button to open the Select Raster Type dialog box. Choose a raster type and click OK.
11. Click either the File or Folder button, depending on whether you are adding a single file or a folder containing many files.
12. Click the Input browse button and choose the file or folders containing the raster data.
13. Optionally, check Use this spatial reference for all input data and click the browse button to choose the spatial reference.

    If unchecked, the spatial reference system defined with the raster will be used.

    You will often specify the spatial reference for data that doesn't contain the information within, such as .tif files with .tfw files.

14. Optionally, click the Band combinations drop-down arrow and choose the required band combination.
15. Optionally, check Apply pansharpening to panchromatically sharpen your image service definition.

    This option will only be available if you are using a raster type that allows pansharpening, such as QuickBird or Landsat.

16. Click Next.
17. Optionally, check Apply stretch and choose the type of enhancement that will be applied to the raster datasets when they are displayed.
18. Optionally, check Apply gamma and choose how the gamma correction value is computed.
19. Click Next.
20. Optionally, click Yes if you want to add additional data to your image service definition and click Next.

    This will take you back through the steps you have already completed to define additional data and any enhancements.

21. Optionally, uncheck Generate overviews if you do not want to optimize the image service definition.

    When you create service overviews, the image service is compiled automatically without your having to select the Compile service for publishing option. A temporary file (*.tmp) is created by the system and stored at C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp\ for Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP and in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\ for Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista and Windows 7. This file is automatically deleted after the generation of service overviews.

22. Optionally, uncheck Compile the service for publishing if you do not want to compile the image service definition.
23. Click Next.
24. Type a valid value forService name.

    It is recommended that you enter all the information on this section of the wizard.

25. Click Next.
26. Review the summary.
27. Click Back if you need to make changes; otherwise, click Finish.
