Base Maps

If a Map Web Part has been configured to use ArcGIS Online or Bing Maps base maps, a set of radio buttons will appear in the upper right corner of the web part. By selecting these radio buttons, you can instantaneously change the base map (i.e. background) of the map.

Note: If the Map Web Part is configured to use a user-defined ArcGIS Server base map, the radio buttons will not be displayed. Defining a group of ArcGIS Server base maps is not supported.

If Bing Maps are being used, the available radio buttons will be Roads, Aerial, and Aerial-Labels. Examples of each of these are shown below:

If ArcGIS Online base maps are being used, the default options are Streets, Topo, and Imagery. Sample images of these default services are shown below. However, by editing the ESRI Base Maps list, the ArcGIS Online group of base maps can be configured to include any ArcGIS Online map services, and the labels shown on the base map radio buttons are also fully customizable.
