Remarks

When the resource is defined at design time, this definition string is stored in the page source. The easiest way to define the string is to use the design-time editor for ResourceItems in the MapResourceManager available in Visual Studio.

An example of a definition string for an ArcGIS Server Internet resource is:

<Definition DataSourceDefinition="http://localhost/arcgis/services" DataSourceType="ArcGIS Server Internet" Identity="" ResourceDefinition="(default)@MyService" DataSourceShared="True" />

An example of a definition string for a graphics resource is:

<Definition DataSourceDefinition="In Memory" DataSourceType="GraphicsLayer" Identity="" ResourceDefinition="" DataSourceShared="True" />

Characters used for XML formatting (< and >) would need to be escaped when this string is stored in the page source.
