Changing the display demographics

Esri Redistricting Online lets you create district plans and monitor the impact of demographics to districts as geographies are assigned to them. You can limit district statistics to show only demographics relevant to your task.

For example, if your goal is to define voting districts, you may want to ensure equitable representation of Hispanics, Asians, Blacks, and White Non-Hispanics in each of your proposed districts. However, suppose the majority population in your geography is Hispanics and White Non-Hispanics. You can limit the demographic statistics to show only the information relevant to your task; in this case, you can limit the display to show statistics for Hispanics and White Non-Hispanics only.

For more information on demographic values, see Understanding demographic variables. Here, you will find a table that lists the different demographic values you will see in the application and a description for each.

You can also define custom variables. Esri Redistricting Online lets you create statistic expressions using the U.S. Census data. This allows you to create custom variables to support your business objectives. For information on how to create custom variables, see Working with custom variables.
