Renaming districts

Esri Redistricting Online lets you change the district label for district assignments. Using this method, you can type in a new name for the district as free text. The underlying geography remains with its current assigment.

Steps:

1. On the Create ribbon, click Districts.

   The District Statistics window appears. The District Statistics window displays the districts in your current plan, the symbology for each district, and the total population count for each district and demographics per district. You can also view the target mean.

2. Click Modify.

   The Modify Districts dialog box appears.

3. Click to select the district name you want to change.

   You can modify both the long name and short name for the districts. The short name is visible on the map when you check the Shorten Names checkbox on the Create ribbon. See Modifying the appearance of district plans.

4. Type a new name in the text field.
5. Repeat step 3-4 as needed.
6. Click OK.

   The district labels update on the map.
