Managing plans

The Open Plan dialog box can help you manage your saved plans. You can create folders to organize existing plans. You can also rename and delete existing plans from this dialog box. As an administrator user, you also have the privilege to re-share plans to other groups.

This topic discusses how to perform the following tasks:

Creating folders

Folders can be created on the Open Plan dialog box to help you organize plans.

Steps:
  1. Launch the Open Plan dialog box, using one of the following options:
    • On the File ribbon, click Open.
    • On the banner, click Open Open button.
  2. Click Create Folder Create Folder button.

    The Create Folder dialog box appears.

  3. Enter a folder name.

  4. Choose the location for the folder from the Create in drop-down menu.

    You can only create folders in the My Plans directory. You can create nested folders to help you organize plans under one parent folder.

  5. Click OK.

Renaming folders

Existing folders can be renamed on the Open Plan dialog box. This allows you to keep your folder names up to date with changing business needs.

NoteNote:

You can only rename folders that are under My Plans. You cannot rename the three default folders: Recent Plans, My Plans, or Shared Plans.

Steps:
  1. Launch the Open Plan dialog box, using one of the following options:
    • On the File ribbon, click Open.
    • On the banner, click Open Open button.
  2. Navigate to and highlight a folder you want to rename.

  3. Click Rename Folder Rename Folder button.

    The Rename Folder dialog box appears.

  4. Update the name of the folder.

  5. Click OK.

Deleting folders

Existing folders can be deleted on the Open Plan dialog box. This allows you to remove folders that are no longer relevant to your task.

NoteNote:

You can only rename folders that are under the My Plans folder. You cannot rename the three default folders: Recent Plans, My Plans, or Shared Plans.

Steps:
  1. Launch the Open Plan dialog box, using one of the following options:
    • On the File ribbon, click Open.
    • On the banner, click Open Open button.
  2. Navigate to and highlight a folder you want to delete.
  3. Click Delete Folder Delete Folder button.

    The Delete Folder dialog box opens to confirm the deletion.

  4. Click OK.

Renaming plans

Existing plans can be renamed on the Open Plan dialog box. You can also update the plan description. This allows you to keep your plan names and description up to date with changing business needs.

NoteNote:

Plans that are listed in the Shared Plans folder can only be renamed if you are the plan owner.

Steps:
  1. Launch the Open Plan dialog box, using one of the following options:
    • On the File ribbon, click Open.
    • On the banner, click Open Open button.
  2. Navigate to and highlight a plan you want to rename.

  3. Access the Rename Plan dialog box using one of the following options:
    • Click Rename Plan Rename Plan button.
    • Right-click the plan you want to edit, and select Rename Plan.

    The Rename Plan dialog box appears.

  4. Update the name of the plan (Optional).
  5. Update the description of the plan (Optional).

Deleting plans

Existing plans can be deleted on the Open Plan dialog box. This allows you to remove plans that are no longer relevant to your task.

Steps:
  1. Launch the Open Plan dialog box, using one of the following options:
    • On the File ribbon, click Open.
    • On the banner, click Open Open button.
  2. Navigate to and highlight a plan you want to delete.
  3. Access the Rename Plan dialog box using one of the following options:
    • Click Delete Plan Delete Plan button.
    • Right-click the plan you want to edit, and select Delete Plan.

    The Delete Plan dialog box opens to confirm the deletion.

  4. Click OK.

Sharing plans

Sharing plans allows you to collaborate with others to create optimal redistricting plans. You can choose to share plans with everyone in the Esri Redistricting Online community, or with members of select groups.

As an administrator user, you have the privilege to re-share plans that have been shared to groups which you are a member or shared to global groups.

Steps:
  1. Launch the Open Plan dialog box, using one of the following options:
    • On the File ribbon, click Open.
    • On the banner, click Open Open button.
  2. Navigate to and highlight a plan you want to share.
  3. Click Share Plan Share Plan button.

    The Share dialog box opens.

  4. Select with whom to share the plan:
    • Everyone allows you to share the plan with all Esri Redistricting Online users.
    • Members of these groups lets you specify only certain groups that can access the plan.

      NoteNote:

      When you choose Members of these groups, ensure you check the individual groups with which you want to share the plan.

    As the plan owner, you can set the access level of the plan as read only or read / write. If you are an Administrator and you are re-sharing a plan you do not own, the access level option is disabled.

  5. Click Update to save your changes.

Dragging and dropping plans

You can drag and drop plans to quickly organize and move plans from one folder to another.

Steps:
  1. Launch the Open Plan dialog box, using one of the following options:
    • On the File ribbon, click Open.
    • On the banner, click Open Open button.
  2. Navigate to and highlight a plan you want to move.
  3. Drag and drop the plan to the desired folder.
