Registering ArcGIS Image Server with ArcGIS Server in ArcCatalog

LegacyLegacy:

ArcGIS 10 is the last release of the stand-alone ArcGIS Image Server product. The image service definition (.ISDef) has been replaced by an improved geodatabase data model—the mosaic dataset—which can be published as an image service using the ArcGIS Server Image extension.

To publish your .ISCDef file using ArcGIS Server, you must register ArcGIS Image Server with ArcGIS Server. You can do this in ArcCatalog or by using the ArcGIS Server Manager Web interface.

Steps:
  1. Expand GIS Servers in the Catalog tree.
  2. Double-click Add ArcGIS Server.
  3. Select Manage GIS Services and click Next.
  4. For Server URL, type the URL of the ArcGIS Server instance you want to connect to.

This URL will take the format http://<server name>/<instance name>/services. For example, http://myServer1/ArcGIS/services.

  5. For Host Name, type the name of the server you want to connect to.

Since your GIS server can be configured with several machines, you should specify the server machine that's running the server object manager.

  6. Click Finish.

The server appears in the Catalog tree.

  7. Right-click the server connection you just made and click Server Properties.
  8. Click the Host tab.
  9. Click the Register ArcGIS Image Server button.
  10. Type the Host Name.

This is the name of the machine where the server component of ArcGIS Image Server is running.

  11. Type the Port number.
  12. Click OK.
  13. Click OK to close the ArcGIS Server Properties dialog box.
