Web Applications post installation overview

The Web Applications post installation configures the Web Applications (ArcGIS Server Manager) install feature by setting the name of the GIS Server and the account that will be used to connect to the GIS Server in order to process Web service requests.

You must complete the Web Applications post installation if you installed only the Web Applications feature.

Complete the post installation setup during the initial installation, or you can run the post installation setup at a later time from Start > Programs > ArcGIS > ArcGIS Server for the Microsoft .NET Framework > Web Applications Post Install.

Provide your GIS Server name,  instance name, and port number

In the GIS Server Instance field, provide the name of your GIS Server instance. The default instance name is ArcGIS. An instance was created when you installed ArcGIS Server. See the Server Help for more information on ArcGIS Server instances.

In the GIS Server field, provide the name of the machine running the Server Object Manager. By default, the machine you are running this post installation on has been provided. However, if you installed the SOM on another machine, modify this field with that machine name.

Provide your GIS Server Web Services account information

Provide the account information that will be used to connect to the GIS Server to handle Web services. This is the same account information that was provided during the GIS Server post installation.

If you are installing Web Applications on the same machine as the GIS Server, the account will already exist on this machine. You can select Existing Local or Domain Account, and provide the account user name and password. Make sure you provide the same user name and password as the GIS Server Web Services account specified in the GIS Server post installation.

If you are installing Web Applications on a different machine to the GIS Server, you must specify whether this account will be created on your local machine, or if the account already exists. Select the appropriate option and provide the account user name and password. If the account does not exist locally it will be created for you. Make sure you provide the same user name and password as the GIS Server Web Services account specified in the GIS Server post installation.

If you specify an Existing Local or Domain Account, the account provided must be a member of the agsadmin and agsusers group.
