What is enterprise geodatabase on Amazon EC2?
Enterprise geodatabase (EGDB) on Amazon EC2 is an optional component of ArcGIS Server on Amazon EC2 that allows ArcGIS Server to store, manage, and query data in an enterprise relational database management system (RDBMS). EGDB is a preconfigured, ready-to-use enterprise ArcSDE geodatabase that uses PostgreSQL as its underlying RDBMS. It is available to users who have an ArcGIS Server enterprise license.
Once an EGDB instance has been launched in the Amazon cloud, all you need to do to start using it is assign secure passwords to the preexisting login roles, load data, and configure an ArcGIS Server enterprise instance to use it.
Multiple ArcGIS Server instances can point to the same EGDB instance if your workflow requires such a configuration. Similarly, one ArcGIS Server instance can connect to multiple EGDB instances.
