Installing ArcSDE for DB2 on Windows
Installing ArcSDE creates a directory (referred to as SDEHOME) that contains library files, administration command utilities, ArcSDE Administration Command Reference documentation, ArcGIS Server help, and database-specific scripts. It also sets the SDEHOME variable in your system path.
Follow these steps to install ArcSDE for DB2 on Windows.
When using DB2 for z/OS, ArcSDE is installed on a separate Windows computer. Therefore, follow these instructions for installing ArcSDE for use with a database on z/OS.
- Log in as a user with administrative privileges to the server on which ArcSDE will be installed.
- Close all applications on your computer.
-
Access the ArcSDE installation files.
- If you have an installation DVD, insert it into the appropriate drive and run the ESRI.exe.
- If you have an ISO file, use an ISO extractor to access the installation files and run the ESRI.exe.
-
Choose the correct option for the installation you are making. Use one of the following:
- To install the 32-bit version of ArcSDE for DB2, choose the ArcSDE for DB2 (32-bit) option on the ArcSDE installation dialog box.
- To install the 64-bit version of ArcSDE for DB2, choose the ArcSDE for DB2 (64-bit) option on the ArcSDE installation dialog box.
- To install ArcSDE for DB2 on z/OS, choose the ArcSDE for DB2 z/OS setup to run the client installation wizard.
- During the installation, you will be asked to read the license agreement and accept it or exit if you do not agree with the terms. If you exit, the installation will terminate.
- Follow the rest of the directions in the setup wizard to complete the installation.
If you install ArcSDE on a different server than the DB2 instance, you must copy certain files from SDEHOME to the DB2 server. Make sure the files you copy are designed to run on the operating system of the DB2 server. See Installing DB2 and ArcSDE on separate servers for more information.
