Add a map or service to a group

Sharing is a way you can add value to your maps and data, by sharing them beyond your existing colleagues or associations. For example, you might want to share a map of local forest information with a forestry special interest group. Follow the steps below to share a map or a service with a group of which you are a member.

To add a map or service to a group

  1. Find the map or service you wish to share and open the Share dialog box. For the currently open map, click the Share button on the toolbar; for a different map or a service, Search for the item in the home screen and click the Share link shown next to the item. You must be signed in to share a map or service.

    NoteNote:

If your account is associated with an organization in ArcGIS Online, you may only be able to see groups within your organization, depending on how your organization administrator has configured your account.

    NoteNote:

Any of your maps and services which you own can be shared with any groups that you own or are a member of. However, public maps and services that you do not own can only be shared with groups that you own.

  3. Close the dialog box by clicking the Close button at the top right of the dialog box.

Back in the home screen, click the Groups tab to open the Groups panel and select the group that you have just shared the item with. You will now see the item listed in the contents of the group.
