Displaying universal world files in a Catalog window

By default, universal world files (esri_cad.wld) are not displayed in a Catalog window. The following steps configure the Catalog window to display universal world files.

Steps:

1. Start ArcCatalog.
2. Click the Customize drop-down arrow in the main toolbar and click ArcCatalog Options.
3. Click the File Types tab and click the New Type button.
4. Type wld in the text box labeled File extension.
5. Type World File in the text box labeled Description of type.
6. Click OK to close the New Type dialog box.
7. Click OK to close the ArcCatalog Options dialog box.

Note:

A CAD companion <filename>.wld file with the same name and stored in the same folder is a hidden file and is not viewable in a Catalog window.
