Creating shares for a data collection update
The Data Appliance for ArcGIS must be configured to share the data collections. The following instructions are for a data collection update on Windows.
Steps:
- Log in to the Data Appliance for ArcGIS as administrator.
- Click the Start menu, expand the Administrative Tools menu, and select Computer Management.
- In the Computer Management application, click Shared Folders to expand the tree, and right-click
the Shares folder. Select New
Share.
- In the Create a Shared Folder Wizard, click Next to begin.
- For Folder Path, click Browse,
and navigate to the hard drive with the data collection (usually
drive E, or if you have more than one collection drive E, F, or
G). Select the cache folder
(or the source_documents folder) of the
data collection to be shared, and click OK.
- Click Next.
- In the Name, Description, and
Settings dialog box, enter the same Share name that was previously recorded in the Share Name Table from step 5 of Identifying current shares and permissions.
- Click Next.
- Select the Customize permissions
option, and click Custom.
- In the Customize Permissions dialog box, click Add.
- Add each user and group as recorded in your Share Name Table from step 5 of Identifying current shares and permissions.
- Change the permissions for each account to match what was Full Control.
- Repeat steps 3 through 12 for each additional share in the Share Name Table from step 5 of Identifying current shares and permissions.
