Basemap Collection overview
The Data Appliance Basemap Collection 5.0 for ArcGIS provides a series of small- to large-scale map cache services that you can use to support your GIS work. Address locator and routing services for North America and Europe are also included for your use if you purchase the geocoding and routing options.
The Basemap Collection includes a topographic map for the world. |
Highways, major roads, minor roads, railways, water features, administrative boundaries, cities, parks, and landmarks are included in the comprehensive street map. This example is for Stockholm, Sweden. |
The boundaries and places layer, including administrative boundaries and place-names, is designed for overlay on imagery (available in the World Imagery Collection) for reference purposes. |
The transportation reference layer, including highway-level data for the world and detailed street-level data for North America and Europe, is designed for overlaying on imagery. |
What you get with the Basemap Collection
The Basemap Collection contains map and task resources that you can publish on your ArcGIS Server system:
- Map caches generated in the ArcGIS Online/Bing Maps/Google Maps tiling scheme in WGS 1984 Web Mercator (Auxiliary Sphere) projected coordinate system
- An ArcGIS Server 10 tiling scheme (conf.xml) file for each map cache
- Map document (.mxd) files that reference the map caches for use in creating the map services on your ArcGIS Server 10 system (if you purchased the routing option, .mxd files are also provided for the routing services)
- Locator files for use in creating the address locator geocode services on your ArcGIS Server 10 system (with geocoding option)
