Resolving masking rule conflicts
As masking rules continue to be added to product class versions, it is possible to inadvertently try to add a duplicate masking rule that can fill the database with unnecessary information. There are several conflict detection rules in the Masking Rule Manager tool.
Conflicts are defined according to the following:
Within a product class version
- When a new rule is added that has the same name and/or the same input and output layers as an existing rule
- When an existing rule is modified to have the same name and/or input and output layers as an existing rule
Between product class versions
When the name and/or input and output layers are the same as an existing rule in the target product class version
For example, if a masking rule named ADHP_C_M is copied from Product Class Version 1.0.0.0 to Product Class Version 2.0.0.0 but already exists there, it is reported as a conflict, and the Masking Rule Conflict Resolution dialog box appears for you to resolve it.
If there are multiple conflicts, each conflict is reported on a product-class-version-by-product-class-version basis.
-
If necessary, click a column heading and drag it to the top of the records to sort the conflict results by column.
For example, you can drag the PCatClassVersion column to sort first by product class version, then the Source Name column.
- Resolve each conflict by doing one of the following:
- Check the box in the Overwrite column—If you want to replace the existing rule in the target product class version with the rule you are copying.
- Do not check the Overwrite check box—If you don't want to replace the existing rule in the target product class version.
提示:You can click Select All if you want to overwrite all the rules in the target product class version with the ones listed in the dialog box.
- Click OK to apply your changes.
The Masking Rule Manager Results dialog box appears.
- Click the plus sign (+) to expand the tree view for the individual conflicts you have resolved.
- Click View Log to see a text file with a history of the conflict resolution.提示:
You can save the text file to a local machine.
- Click Close.
- Click Close on the Masking Rule Manager dialog box.
