Choosing the current map layout with your map series

For the layout of your map sheets, you can use the current layout of a map that you have open, or you can select an existing Map Document (.mxd) file to use as a template for your layout.

When you choose to use the current map layout, the existing layers, page elements, and properties will be used. Data frame manager properties can be added either through the wizard or after a map series is created, through the Show Data Frame Manager Properties button on the MPS Atlas toolbar.

1. Click the Use Current option in the Layout area.
   
2. Click the Base Map Data Frame drop-down arrow and choose the data frame you want to specify as the base map.
