What's new in ArcGIS Data Reviewer at 10
With this version of Data Reviewer, there are several new tools and enhancements to the software including changes to the toolbar and user interfaces.
New at 10.0 SP1
Several enhancements have been introduced at service pack 1:
- You can now add multiple batch jobs in the Batch Job Manager and Batch Validate dialog boxes. To select multiple batch jobs, you can press the CTRL or SHIFT key when you select batch jobs on the Select Batch Job File dialog box.
- Multiple checks can be enabled or disabled in the Batch Validate dialog box. They can be enabled or disabled by pressing the CTRL or SHIFT key while you check or uncheck the boxes next to the checks, respectively.
- Annotation can now be validated using the following checks:
- You can enable or disable an error message when you use the Flag Missing Feature tool. When the error message is disabled, a message does not appear when the Notes text box is empty.
Toolbar changes
The Data Reviewer toolbar now contains a menu with data analysis tools. The icons have also been updated for all the tools and commands on the toolbar.
New checks
The following checks have been added at this release:
- Custom check—This check provides a framework for running checks created specifically for your organization. Samples for creating the validation code run by this check are available with the Tutorials and Samples. This check replaces custom condition table (CNT) extensions, and users with existing custom CNT extensions can import them to the new Custom check.
- Metadata check—This is a dataset-level check that validates geodatabase objects, shapefiles, and stand-alone XML files to ensure that metadata has been completed properly.
- Sampling check—This check can be used to generate a statistical or random sample of features or records from one or more layers. You can run this check separately or add it to a batch job and write the results to the Reviewer table.
This check replaces the Sample tool that was available with 9.3.1 and previous releases.
- Topology Rules check—The Topology Rules check allows you to validate the features in a topology based on the defined topology rules.
You can run this check separately or add it to a batch job and write the results to the Reviewer table.
This check replaces the Import Topology Errors tool that was available with 9.3.1 and previous releases.
- Valency check—This check is commonly used for transportation and utility data to validate the relationships between point and line features or line features within the same feature class. For example, this check can be used to ensure that a reducer connects to two pipes whose diameters are different.
Geoprocessing
The Write To Reviewer Table tool allows you to write the output of other geoprocessing tools to the Reviewer table. The output of the tool must be a table, feature class, or feature layer. This tool can be included as part of a model, with the output of the process written to the Reviewer table for further analysis.
General enhancements
- Reporting—At version 10, the reporting functionality within Data Reviewer has been enhanced. You can generate sampling reports as well as reports by feature count and by automated checks. These reports can be viewed in Microsoft Excel and further customized.
- Version Differences tool—The Version Differences tool allows you to identify features in a versioned database that have been added, modified, or deleted by comparing the current version to the parent or a sibling version. The results can be browsed or written to the Reviewer table before verifying and posting to the parent version.
- Product library integration—It is now possible to store Reviewer batch jobs in the product library and validate your data in an enterprise environment. Checks can also be checked out and checked back in to the product library so that the changes are saved and accessible to other users working with the same product library.
- Check titles—It is now possible to add a custom title to a check when configuring it. This is useful with batch jobs, where you have the same check configured with slightly different properties.
- Positional Accuracy Assessment—This tool is used to determine the positional difference between two geospatial layers. The tool has been significantly enhanced at 10 and now has its own toolbar.
Other changes
At version 10, the following functionality has been replaced or removed in favor of other functionality:
- CNT check—The CNT check in the Database Validation Checks category has been replaced by the Execute SQL check and the Custom check. Existing CNT checks can be imported to either of these checks.注意:
ArcGIS Data Reviewer 10 will automatically remove this check from the batch job when it is saved.
- VVT check—The valid value table (VVT) check within the Database Validation checks category has been removed. 注意:
ArcGIS Data Reviewer 10 will automatically remove this check from the batch job when it is saved.
- Frequency tool—The Frequency tool in Data Reviewer has been replaced by the Frequency tool in ArcGIS.
