One of the datasets or its associated ID fields selected as inputs to the tool are invalid. This tool checks for the existence of the datasets but not the vailidity of the attributes associated with it.

Verify that the associated attributes of the input datasets are valid and can be viewed with ArcGIS for Desktop Basic.
