Exporting map sheets

The Export map sheet command opens a standard export dialog box with the additional ability to batch export multiple map sheets. The Export Map Sheet(s) dialog box's Setup tool allows you to export to the following formats: EMF, EPS, AI, PDF, SVG, BMP, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and GIF. You can also set options such as resolution under the Options area on the Export dialog box.

  1. Start ArcMap.

    If the ArcMap - Getting Started dialog box appears, you can open a new or existing map document. You can also check the Do not show this dialog box in the future check box and click Open.

  2. On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > MPS Atlas.
  3. Click the MPS Atlas window button MPS Atlas window on the MPS Atlas toolbar.

    The MPS Atlas window appears.

  4. Right-click a map sheet and click Export Map Sheet.

    The Export Map Sheet(s) dialog box appears.

  5. Click Setup.

    The Export Map dialog box appears.

  6. If necessary, change the path for the exported file by clicking the Save in drop-down arrow and choosing a new location.
  7. Type a file name in the File name text box.
  8. Click the Save as type drop-down arrow and choose a file type.
  9. Click Save.

    The Export Map Sheet(s) dialog box appears.

  10. Click one of the following in the Map Sheets area:
    • All Map Sheets to export all map sheets in a map series.
    • Current Map Sheet to export the current map sheet.
    • Map Sheets to export specific map sheets and type the range of pages, or page numbers separated by commas, that you want to export.

      The range can include contiguous map sheets by using a dash, for example 1-8, or you can send discontinuous map sheets by separating them with a comma, for example 1,3,5,7. Ranges with dashes and commas can be combined in the same export command, for example, 1-5,7,9.

  11. Click OK.
