Rotating the stipple element

There may be situations when the stipple element angle should be something other than the default 16° angle to the nearest top point of the runway element. The stipple element can be rotated to change the default angle on a chart-by-chart basis.

  1. Start ArcMap.

    If the ArcMap - Getting Started dialog box appears, you can open a new or existing map document. You can also check the Do not show this dialog box in the future check box and click Open.

  2. On the main menu, click View > Layout View.
  3. On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > Aeronautical Terminal Procedures.
  4. On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > Draw.
  5. Click the Edit Instrument Approach Profile button Edit Instrument Approach Profile on the Aeronautical Terminal Procedures toolbar.
  6. Select the stipple element.
  7. Click the Rotate button Rotation on the Draw toolbar.
  8. Pause the Rotate tool over the X located in the center of the stipple element.

  9. Click and drag it to the top corner of the runway element (the corner closest to the stipple element) where the stipple element node intersects the runway corner.

  10. Move the pointer away from the node to return the pointer to the rotate icon.

    The pointer returns to the default rotate mouse pointer.

  11. Click the stipple element and drag the mouse pointer to rotate the stipple element around the anchor point connected to the runway.
