Creating page overlays

The Create Page Overlays command allows you to create page and grid feature classes that contain polygons that match the extent of the data frame for each map sheet in the map series. The resulting feature classes can then be used to overlay and perform spatial joins with any of the other map feature classes to create an index table.

Pasos:
  1. Start ArcMap.

    If the ArcMap - Getting Started dialog box appears, you can open a new or existing map document. You can also check the Do not show this dialog box in the future check box and click Open.

  2. On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > MPS Atlas.
  3. Click the MPS Atlas window button MPS Atlas window on the MPS Atlas toolbar.

    The MPS Atlas window appears.

  4. Right-click the map series name and click Create Page Overlays.

  5. Click Browse.

    The Select Workspace dialog box appears.

  6. Navigate to the geodatabase you want to use for the output feature classes.
  7. Click Select.

    The Create Page Overlays dialog box appears.

  8. Type the name you want to use for the output page feature class in the Output Page Feature Class text box.
  9. Type the name you want to use for the output grid reference feature class in the Output Grid Reference Feature Class text box.
    NotaNota:

    Neither name can contain a space, and both should be entered in a format similar to the following: Output_name.

  10. Click OK.

    Once the index feature classes are created, the following message appears.

  11. Click OK.

The Grid Reference feature class is only created when there is a reference grid with grid lines defined for the current data frame. For a complete description of reference grids, see Adding a reference grid.
