Configuring automatic updates for map documents

The Auto Update property in a production database indicates whether the production database workspace, data model version, and product class version are updated based on the current entry you are using or when you open a product that has been created using the product library. The default value depends on the solution you have installed; for Aeronautical Solution, the default is False and should not be changed, and for Nautical Solution, the default is True.

If Auto Update is set to False, the production database workspace, data model, and product class information can be updated manually. Otherwise, these properties are unavailable on the Data Management pane of the Properties dialog box.

A value of True means that when you change the current entry you are using or open a map document from the product library tree, the production database changes to the database associated with your instance—if you have a database set for your instance—and the data model version and product class version are changed so they match the default values for the corresponding product class.
