Merging geometries

The Merge tool performs a topological union between features and updates their descriptive properties to reflect the changes.

Pasos:
  1. Start ArcMap.

    If the ArcMap - Getting Started dialog box appears, you can open a new or existing map document. You can also check the Do not show this dialog box in the future check box and click Open.

  2. On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > Production Editing.
  3. On the menu bar, click Customize > Toolbars > Production Feature Builder.
  4. Click the Launch Feature Builder button Launch Feature Builder on the Production Feature Builder toolbar.

    The Feature Builder window appears in ArcMap.

    The Feature Builder window can be placed anywhere in ArcMap, or in the TOC, with the aid of the arrows showing the possible placement positions.

  5. Verify that the Feature Builder Scratch dataset is loaded in your map.
  6. Click the Production Start Editing button Production Start Editing on the Production Editing toolbar.
    NotaNota:

    The Manage Features and Create Attributes, Update Attributes, or Metadata Attributes windows automatically appear when you start an edit session using the Production Start Editing tool.

    SugerenciaSugerencia:

    If the Create Attributes, Update Attributes, or Metadata Attributes window does not appear when you start an edit session, click the Link Feature Manager To Attributes Window button Show/Hide Attributes on the Manage Features window.

  7. Choose the Feature Builder Scratch database as your editing workspace.
  8. Select one or more feature builder polygon and line geometries.
  9. Click the Merge button Merge on the Production Feature Builder toolbar.

    Adjacent polygons are merged, with adjoining segments becoming lines.
