Modeling semivariogram and covariance functions: Accounting for anisotropy

Pasos:

1. Set the Anisotropy parameter on the Semivariogram/Covariance Modeling dialog box to True.

   The single line becomes many lines when Anisotropy is checked. The many lines show the semivariogram model for many different directions. The models (the many lines) are a theoretical "best fit" semivariogram model to the empirical semivariogram. Geostatistical Analyst automatically calculates the optimum parameters (for instance, Major Range, Minor Range, and Angle of Direction) to account for the anisotropic influence.

2. Set the Show search direction control to True after checking Anisotropy.

   If the model fits well, the blue line changes to fit the changing scatter of empirical semivariogram values when the angle of search direction is changed.
