Configuring Pop-Ups
Layers within ArcGIS Server dynamic map services, Spatial Data Service layers, and SharePoint list layers have pop-ups that display a feature's attributes. Pop-ups can be configured to display when the mouse hovers over a feature (on hover) or when the feature on the map is clicked (on click). These pop-ups can be configured to display specific attributes and with user-friendly field names.
By default, pop-ups display in on-hover mode, and all the attribute fields in the record are displayed:

Pop-Up configuration
- Open the Map Contents panel. For instructions, see The Map Contents Panel.
- Select the layer in the Map Contents panel:
- Locate the Pop-Ups button on the Layer tab of the web part's ribbon and click Pop-Ups to open the pop-up's configuration table:
- Specify whether to enable pop-ups on click or on hover. Pop-ups on click emulates
"identify" tool functionality, and support includes the ability to
drill-down to display attributes from multiple layers in a single
pop-up as shown below.

Component | Description |

Visible field | When the checkbox is checked, the field will be displayed in the pop-up, when unchecked the field will not appear in the pop-up. |
Name field | The name of the field in the originating table. The value is not displayed in the pop-up and the field is not editable. |
Alias field | The name of the field as it is displayed in the pop-up. This field is editable. |
Clear All button | Unchecks all the checkboxes in the VIsible field. When all are unchecked the button caption will change to Select All, which will, when clicked, check all the boxes in the Visible field. |
Change a field alias
- Double-click in the Alias field to select the text or click inside the field and delete the current text:
- Enter the new text and press the Enter key to save the change:
After making all the changes, hover over the features to view the changes:

To cause a field not to appear on the pop-ups, uncheck the checkbox in the Visible field:
