Compatibility Notes

Tracking Server and ArcGIS Engine

Tracking Server 10 supports ArcGIS Engine 10. The installer for Tracking Server 10 ships with ArcGIS Engine Runtime 10. If ArcGIS Engine Runtime 10 is not already installed, then a bundled installer will be used to install ArcGIS Engine Runtime 10. If ArcGIS Engine Runtime 10 is already installed, the Tracking Server 10 installer will recognize it and install using the existing software.

Tracking Server and ArcGIS Tracking Analyst

Because of code upgrades and concurrent version changes, ArcGIS Tracking Analyst versions prior to 10 (including 9.3.1) should not be used to view real-time services with Tracking Server 10.

CautionCaution:

If you have ArcGIS Desktop 9.3.1 installed, you MUST upgrade to ArcGIS Desktop 10 in order to install Tracking Server 10 on the same machine.

Tracking Server and ArcGIS Online

ArcGIS Online is not required in order for Tracking Server to function properly, and it does not need to be accessible from the Tracking Server. However, ArcGIS Online may be used with ArcGIS Tracking Server to act as the background map image server for the Tracking Viewer Web-based client.

If you use ArcGIS Tracking Analyst as a client, you do not need ArcGIS Online to produce the background map. You may use local shapefiles or other map sources as you normally would in ArcMap. If you use the Tracking Viewer, or other Web-based clients, you can use ArcGIS Online to serve up the background map.

Tracking Server and Military Overlay Editor (MOLE)

Tracking Server 10 supports Military Overlay Editor (MOLE) 10, but the Tracking Server installer does not include the MOLE 10 installer. If you need MOLE, you must install it from the ESRI Customer Care Portal if you have internet access, or request it from ESRI Customer Care.
