If you are using the ArcGIS Server Web controls and Web templates to build Servlet or JSP based web applications, the following are required:

The Manager for ArcGIS Server for the Java Platform is designed for administration of ArcGIS Server and the creation and customization of Java ADF based web applications. For best results, the application should be exported and deployed to one of the supported Java Application Servers listed in the table below. The Manager is not recommended for production deployment of web applications.

Integrated Development Environment (IDE) Requirements

Any IDE may be used to build Web ADF based java applications, however Eclipse and NetBeans are recommended. Eclipse and NetBeans plug-ins are provided with the Web ADF for the Java Platform which offer an enhanced developer experience through templates, code snippets, and project wizards.

Must be used with Web Tools Platform 2.0. A Java runtime environment (JRE) is required to use Eclipse. A minimum of JDK 6 Update 16 (32-bit and 64-bit) is recommended.

Java Requirements

JDK version 6 Update 16 is required for Java development. 32-bit or 64-bit versions of the JDK may be used.
