Spline text

Purpose
This sample demonstrates how to create a spline path for text. A new polyline or Bezier curve can be tracked to create the path for the text, or an existing graphic element can provide the path.

How to use

See How to use ArcGIS samples for help on running the sample. If the sample has associated data, you will find that the sample's zip file includes a "data" folder alongside the language folders. However, you will need to update the sample to point to the location of the data once you have extracted all the files.

  1. Start the application using the supplied executable .jar file, Ant, or your integrated development environment (IDE). An empty window opens.
  2. Click the window and set control points for the spline.
  3. Double-click when you have enough points.
  4. Type the characters. The character string should follow the spline.
  5. Press Enter. The spline is redrawn.
