Display Temporal Data

Purpose
This sample application reads temporal data from a shapefile that contains such data and displays it on a map. The application sets up a tracking environment, the temporal mode, the temporal perspective and the base time and then reads in temporal data from the shapefile. The data are then displayed in the map bean, at intervals of 1 second, using Java Swing's standard timer mechanism (InvokeHelper.java), in association with com.esri.arcgis.trackinganalyst.TemporalOperator class.

How to use

See How to use ArcGIS samples for help on running the sample. If the sample has associated data, you will find that the sample's zip file includes a "data" folder alongside the language folders. However, you will need to update the sample to point to the location of the data once you have extracted all the files.

How to use this sample?
  1. Execute the DisplayTemporalData class.
  2. Click on the "Playback Tracking Data" toolbar button, in the sample's application window after the application window is displayed. It might take a few minutes to start displaying temporal data.
  3. Observe features from the shape file being rendered at intervals of 1 second.
