Checking the integrity of the district plan

Esri Redistricting Online contains a set of quality checks you can run against your redistricting plan. The quality checks determine the integrity of the district plan and can help you identify districts that do not meet defined standards.

There are a number of data quality checks contained in Esri Redistricting Online including:

The integrity tests run through a series of checks to ensure the district plan adheres to defined standards. Should an integrity check fail, you can click the Details or Zoom To buttons for additional information.

Steps:
  1. On the Review ribbon, click Check Integrity.

    The Integrity Tests dialog box launches. Esri Redistricting Online automatically runs the connectivity check.

  2. The Integrity Tests dialog box displays results for each of the tests performed.
    • A green check Integrity Test pass indicates the district plan passed the integrity test.
    • A red Integrity Test fail indicates the district plan failed the integrity test.

    When a test fails, you can click Details to view more information about why a check did not pass.

    When the connectivity check fails, clicking Details displays the Discontiguous Districts dialog box. On the Discontiguous Districts dialog box, highlight a district that is discontiguous and use the Previous Part and Next Part buttons to navigate the map to the discontiguous parts.

    When the maximum deviation check fails, clicking Details displays the Maximum Deviation Details dialog box. Here, you will see the total and ideal population values, the different, and the allowable deviation.

  3. Click OK to close the Integrity Tests dialog box.
