Troubleshooting

After installation, why can't I see ESRI Production Mapping in the ArcGIS extensions list?

After installing ESRI Production Mapping on Windows 2003, you may not see the Production Mapping extension listed in the ArcMap Extensions dialog box. You can resolve this problem by logging off and back on to your Windows 2003 machine.

The Data Reviewer service fails to start

In some environments, the Data Reviewer service may return this error upon startup:

Unable to Locate Component.

This application has failed to start because ProductionSolutionEngineLib.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

To resolve this problem, do the following:

  1. Reboot the machine.
  2. Restart the Data Reviewer service.

Microsoft WinHlp patch for Windows 7 and Windows Vista

The following Microsoft patch is recommended, but not required, when using ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Engine, or ArcReader on Microsoft Vista or Windows 7. ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Engine, and ArcReader provide pop-up, context-sensitive help topics for tools, commands, and dialog boxes delivered using WinHlp32. WinHlp32 won't function on Windows 7 and Windows Vista without this patch. For information regarding this patch, see the Microsoft Knowledge Base article 917607, which also contains links so you can download the patch. If you access pop-up, context-sensitive help without this patch being installed, you will receive a message from Windows prompting you to download the patch. For best usability, ESRI recommends that you install the patch when you install ArcGIS.
