Opening an image service

The Image Server Viewer interface provides a dialog box that allows you to add one or more image services to the program and display the service. In Image Server Viewer, only one image service can be opened at a time.

You can access a summary of the image service properties from this dialog box. Or once the image service is added, you can access all the image service properties and make modifications to some of them, such as the transmission compression.

Steps:
  1. Click Start > Programs > ArcGIS > Image Server > Image Server Viewer 10.
  2. Click File > Open.

The Add Image Server Connection dialog box appears.

  3. Type the name of a server in the Server Name text box. Alternatively, click the Server Name arrow to choose a previously used server or click the ellipsis button Browse to choose a server in your network.

Image services served with ArcGIS Server can be accessed via HTTP protocol. This is facilitated by typing http:// and the name of the ArcGIS Server in the Server Name text box.

For example, if the server name is TestServer, type http://TestServer in the Server Name text box.

This list includes all services served by the selected image server. Some services are organized in folders, which you need to double-click to view the contained services.

  4. Double-click the image service in the list or click the image service and click the Select button.

The image service name appears in the Selected Services list. You can choose one or more services on one or more servers.

  5. Click OK to add the service and close the Add Image Server Connection dialog box.

The image service is displayed in Image Server Viewer.
