Installing and uninstalling the ArcGIS Image Server client for AutoCAD

Installing and configuring the AutoCAD client

You need to install and configure the ArcGIS Image Server client for AutoCAD to use it. The installation is performed through a wizard. The configuration involves configuring your AutoCAD profiles.

The installation includes the AutoCAD client, as well as the Image Server Viewer application. The Image Server Viewer is a simple client application that allows you to view an image service. It can be used to test your connection with the server.

Steps:
  1. If your setup comes from the installation DVD, use the following steps.
    1. Insert the DVD into the computer and navigate to the DVD's contents with Explorer.

If the autorun option on your machine is turned off, you can launch the DVD by double-clicking the ESRI.exe.

    2. Double-click the ClientInstalls folder.
    3. Double-click the AutoCAD Client folder.
  2. If your setup is downloaded from ESRI's Web site, then use the following steps:
    1. Download the AutoCAD Client and unzip it.
    2. Open the AutoCAD Client folder.
  3. Double-click the Setup.msi Windows installer package.
  4. Click Next on the ArcGIS Image Server AutoCAD Client Setup dialog box.
  5. Click the browse button and specify the location where you want to install the AutoCAD client application.
  6. Click Next.

The application is now ready to be installed.

  7. Click Next to begin the installation.
  8. Click Finish.

The ArcGIS Image Server AutoCAD Client is installed on your machine. Next, configure the AutoCAD profiles.

  9. Click Start > Programs > ArcGIS > Image Server > AutoCAD > Configure AutoCAD Profiles.
  10. Click Yes to install the client for AutoCAD in the specified location.

After the files have been copied, the installation program will display a list of all AutoCAD user profiles (configurations) from all the supported versions of AutoCAD installed on your computer. You will be prompted to select one or more AutoCAD profiles with which you want to use Image Server. The profiles that you select here will be the only profiles configured to work with the ArcGIS Image Server AutoCAD client.

If, at a later stage, you need to add other AutoCAD user profiles to work with the ArcGIS Image Server client, repeat steps 7 and 8 of this procedure. When an AutoCAD profile has been chosen to run with the ArcGIS Image Server client, the installer places the IS_LOADER.LSP file into the Auto-Startup Suite for that profile. Once this is done, the ArcGIS Image Server program automatically loads each time that user profile is called in AutoCAD.

    NoteNote:

You need to install VBA support for AutoCAD to use the AutoCAD client in AutoCAD versions 2009, 2010, and 2011.

Removing the AutoCAD client from an AutoCAD profile

To remove the ArcGIS Image Server client for AutoCAD from loading up each time this profile is selected, go to the StartupSuite (accessed using the Appload command) and remove the loader file IS_LOADER.LSP.

Uninstalling the AutoCAD client

Steps:
  1. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Click ArcGIS Image Server AutoCAD Client in the Currently Installed Programs list.
  4. Click the Remove button.
  5. Click Yes to remove the Image Server components.

The ArcGIS Image Server AutoCAD Client is uninstalled from your machine.
