View an AXF in ArcGIS Desktop

When either the ArcGIS 10.1 Data Interoperabilty extension or FME 2012 is installed, the AXF Reader for FME allows you to view AXF files in ArcGIS Desktop, similarly to other Esri files. To demonstrate, the following steps will show you how to view the Riverside sample AXF in ArcMap.

Steps:
  1. Open ArcMap and launch the Catalog window.
  2. In the Catalog window, browse to C:\Users\Public\Documents\ArcPad\Samples\Riverside.

You will see that the AXF is represented by the feature dataset icon and that any related tables stored in your AXF are represented as point layers. This is the case for all formats extended with FME.

  3. To view the AXF data in ArcMap, drag your layers to either the ArcMap Table of Contents or map windows.
