Mobile ADF integration with Visual Studio

The Mobile ADF feature requires Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 or 2008. Supported Visual Studio editions are Standard and Professional. Installing Microsoft Visual Studio Express 2005 or 2008 will not satisfy the Visual Studio requirement for the Mobile ADF feature. If a supported edition of Visual Studio 2005 or Visual Studio 2008 is not installed, the Mobile ADF features will not be available for installation.

Mobile Application Developer Framework for Visual Studio 2005 Integration requires the Microsoft Toolbox Control Installer (TCI) software to be installed. This program is installed automatically when the Setup.exe for ArcGIS Server for the Micrsoft .NET Framework is launched. If the Toolbox Control feature does not appear under the Mobile ADF Visual Studio 2005 Integration feature, TCI has not been installed. The TCI setup can be found in the Support folder of the ArcGIS Server for the Microsoft .NET Framework 9.3 media. If the TCI setup has been installed, the Select Features dialog will show the Toolbox Controls feature as available for installation.

If the Toolbox Controls feature is not visible at the Select Features dialog, cancel the installation, verify that a supported edition of Visual Studio 2005 is installed, and then launch the Setup.exe for ArcGIS Server for the Microsoft .NET Framework.

Unavailable features can be added at a later time by installing the required dependency and then going to Add/Remove Programs -> ArcGIS Server for the Microsoft .NET Framework -> Change -> Modify.  The feature that had been unavailable before should now be visible and marked with a red X. Select the feature for installation and follow the on-screen instructions until the installation process has successfully completed.  Please note, uninstalling and reinstalling the software is not required.
