Displaying schematic diagrams
The following paragraphs explain how to display schematic diagrams within ArcGIS Server.

No ArcGIS Server Schematics license is required on the server to display diagrams.
Authoring and publishing a map resource based on diagram templates
The first step consists of building a map document organized around several data frames, one per diagram template (see figure 1), with each data frame displaying a diagram of its associated diagram template.

Once you have authored such a map document, you're ready to publish it as a service. After publishing, all the schematic diagrams are available through the map service.
Using this map service in a Web application to display schematic diagrams
A Web application can be easily developed, associating a map resource manager with each data frame (that is, each diagram template) served by the map service. This Web application can also manage drop-down boxes to filter out the schematic diagram the client wants to display among all the diagrams of a given diagram template.
Sum up
Figure 2 sums up how to visualize schematic diagrams within ArcGIS Server.

For further information and understanding, look at the .NET sample project code provided through the ArcGIS Server Developer Help system. The ArcGISServerSchematics_SampleNET topic available under Samples\Web Applications\help book describes a complete sample Web application that allows clients to generate, display, and update schematic diagrams within ArcGIS Server.
