ArcGIS Java Manager and Web Server settings

The ArcGIS Java Manager contains its own Java Runtime Environment and Apache Tomcat servlet container. In ArcGIS Java Manager, click Settings on the Home panel. The following properties can be configured on this page:

Web Server JVM Options

The first option on the ArcGIS Server Manager and Web Server Settings page sets the JVM options for the internal Tomcat Servlet Container. The internal Tomcat Servlet Container hosts the ArcGIS Java Manager and all deployed applications listed on the Web Applications page of the Applications tab. The Web Server JVM options input box lists the default properties that are applied to the Java Manager's JVM. Edit the text input box by adding or removing entries to change the JVM configuration. To immediately apply changes to the JVM, click Save.

LAN Manager Authentication Level

The second option on the ArcGIS Server Manager and Web Server Settings page sets the LAN Manager Authentication Level (LANMAL) used by Manager. On the Windows operating system, the LANMAL is a security setting that determines which challenge/response authentication protocol is used for network logons. The Manager LANMAL must match the LANMAL of the computer that is running the ArcGIS SOM process. To determine the LANMAL on the ArcGIS SOM computer, navigate to Control Panel > Administrative Tools and open Local Security Policy. Click Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options. From the policies listed, double-click Network Security: LAN Manager Authentication Level.

If the Windows security policy on the ArcGIS SOM computer has been set to Send NTLMv2 response only\refuse LM & NTLM and you are unable to log in to the Java Manager application, do the following:

  1. Navigate to <ArcGIS Server installation directory>\java\manager\service\lib.
  2. Open the file manager_config.properties in a text editor, such as Notepad.
  3. Find the property named ARCGIS_LM_COMPATIBILITY_LEVEL and change its value to 5.
  4. Click Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services to open the Windows Services panel.
  5. Restart the ArcGIS Server Manager service.

Proxy Server Settings

The third section on the Settings page allows you to define a proxy server for ArcGIS Server Manager. To access ArcGIS Server Web services on the Internet, such as ArcGIS Online, a direct connection to the Internet is required. If ArcGIS Server Java Manager is installed behind a proxy firewall, the proxy server settings must be configured. Enter the proxy server's host name, port, and authentication information and click Save to immediately apply the settings.
