Feature information models for replicas

When creating a replica, there are two options to choose from for a feature information model:

Full model

The full model assumes features are stored with the same feature type in both the parent replica geodatabase and the child replica geodatabase. For example, replica data in a geometric network or topology in the parent is assumed to be stored in a corresponding geometric network or topology in the child. This option is for use with editing applications based on ArcGIS or ArcGIS Engine on both the parent and child geodatabases.

The full model is the default option when creating replicas.

Simple model

In this model, the child geodatabase contains only simple features. Nonsimple features in the parent (for example, features in geometric networks and topologies)are converted to simple features in the child, and vice versa, during replication. Additional processing is applied during synchronization to account for the difference in feature types and characteristics in the two geodatabases. This option must be used when the child geodatabase is designed for editing by simple feature editors including third-party editors that are not based on ArcGIS Engine. It can also be used to simplify the data model on the child for use during one-way replication or with editors based on ArcGIS or ArcGIS Engine.
