ArcView and the geodatabase

ArcGIS Desktop can be licensed at three different levels: ArcView, ArcEditor, and ArcInfo. The geodatabase functionality you have available to you in ArcGIS Desktop varies depending on which license you are using.

The geodatabase functionality available to you in ArcGIS Desktop is essentially the same when using either an ArcEditor or ArcInfo license. However, if you are using an ArcView license, your access to geodatabase functionality is limited.

With an ArcView ArcGIS Desktop license, you have access to the following geodatabase functionality:

If you are using an ArcView license, you cannot do the following:

To do any of the operations in the preceding list, you must have an ArcEditor or ArcInfo ArcGIS Desktop license.
