Geoportal extension
The ArcGIS Server Geoportal extension provides the capability to build and custom configure a geoportal Web site. Geoportals provide an interface for publishing, administering, and searching metadata, making possible the discovery of geospatial data resources for use in mapping applications. In addition to the discovery interface, the Geoportal extension also provides the following features:
- Previewer map interface for viewing live data and services
- Search results exposed through the REST API so records can be easily shared among applications and users
- Desktop metadata Harvesting Tool and service for bringing metadata from other catalogs into the geoportal
- Integration with content management systems to organize metadata to support focused user communities
- Data extraction service customization for downloading data for a resource, with the ability to specify an extent, projection, and download format
- CSW Client, a freely downloadable extension for ArcMap and ArcGIS Explorer to enable searching geoportal catalogs from within those environments
- WMC Client, a freely downloadable extension for opening saved Web Map Context files in ArcMap
- Publish Client, a freely downloadable extension for ArcCatalog that enables geoportal users to publish metadata from an ArcCatalog directory to the geoportal
