Installing ArcSDE for Oracle on Windows
Installing ArcSDE creates a directory (referred to as SDEHOME) that contains library files, administration command utilities, ArcSDE Administration Command Reference documentation, ArcGIS Server help, and database-specific scripts. It also sets the SDEHOME variable in your system path.
Tip:
If you install ArcSDE on a different machine than the Oracle instance, you must copy certain files from SDEHOME to the Oracle server. Make sure the files you copy are designed to run on the operating system of the Oracle server. See Installing Oracle and ArcSDE on separate servers for more information.
