System requirements to install ArcSDE for DB2
ArcSDE has certain minimum computer system requirements. Your computer system must meet these minimum requirements to successfully install and use ArcSDE for DB2.
For the latest in supported system environments for use with ArcSDE (including supported versions of each operating system and required DB2 Fix Packs), see http://resources.arcgis.com and navigate to the ArcGIS Server System Requirements.
Disk space
Installation of ArcSDE requires approximately the following amount of disk space:
Server environment |
Approximate disk space |
---|---|
IBM AIX |
118 MB |
Red Hat Linux |
135 MB |
Sun Solaris |
120 MB |
Windows |
120 MB |
Fortran Run-Time Environment
ESRI distributes IBM version 08.01.0000.0000 Fortran Run-Time Environment (RTE) libraries with ArcSDE. An additional Fortran RTE is not required. A Fortran RTE that is already installed on a machine will be used by the system and for all other applications other than ArcSDE.
Older versions of ArcSDE use their own Fortran RTEs, located in $SDEHOME/lib, and work fine on AIX. However, you must have a LIBPATH variable set to $SDEHOME/lib:/usr/lib:/lib with the appropriate $SDEHOME to work correctly.
IBM file sets required
The following file sets (or higher releases) are required for installations on IBM operating systems:
xlC.aix50.rte 9.0.0.0
xlC.msg.en_US.rte 9.0.0.0
xlC.rte 9.0.0.0
DB2 requirements
DB2 has certain minimum computer system requirements separate from ArcSDE's requirements. Your computer system is required to meet these minimum requirements to successfully install and use DB2. For the latest in supported environments for DB2, consult the IBM site.
