Adding an operational mobile cache

A mobile map is composed of two primary types of map layers—operational map layers and basemap layers.

Operational map layers contain the transactional content of your mobile map. They are the layers in your field map that you need to receive more frequent updates for, need to query, and might need to update and/or collect features for in the field.

A mobile cache is a folder of map data that has been created for use with the ArcGIS Mobile applications. You can create a mobile cache using the Create Mobile Map geoprocessing tool, or you can create a mobile cache using either the Mobile SDK or the ready-to-deploy ArcGIS Mobile applications.

Using Mobile Project Center, you can add a reference to a mobile cache by browsing for the folder. The name of the folder will be added to the project for the field applications to reference. You will need to copy the mobile cache to your Projects folder on each of the mobile devices that will use the project.
