Add and configure a description gadget

A description gadget displays information about the dashboard and its gadgets. You can add description gadgets to help give context to the information that is displayed by the other gadgets in the dashboard. You can also use description gadgets to provide instructional information to the users of your map.

If you want to add a gadget that displays an attribute value instead of a static description, try a summary gadget.

To add a description gadget

1. On the Dashboard panel, click the Add button (+). The Add Dashboard Gadget dialog box appears.
2. Click the Gadget drop-down arrow, choose Description, then click OK.

   

3. On the Configure Description dialog box, specify the properties for your gadget:
   • In the Title box, type a title that will be displayed for the gadget.
   • In the Caption box, type a caption that will be displayed below the gadget's title.

     

4. Click OK to close the dialog box.

The new gadget is added to the map dashboard. The description gadget always shows the same information, regardless of which features are selected in the map.
